My Nuvi 765t takes 20 minutes to load the maps. Is that normal or is there a way to speed this procedure up?
Thanks.

Speed

I presume you mean that it takes 20 minutes to load the maps, when you start the GPS. If so that's incredibly slow.
If that's how long it takes to load a new map onto your GPS, then that's lightning speed. It takes almost 2 hours to load onto my NUVI 350

15-20 seconds to start up is about right
Just timed my 765t and it took 15 seconds to get to password screen so 20 is not out of line.
Thank you.
So, 20 sec. is about right.

May depend on how much data you have in there
The start up time could depend on how much extra data you have on the unit. I'd recommend getting rid of any extra files you have on the unit if you are having problems with startup times.
775T
My 775T takes about 18 seconds to Warning screen with the SD card in (52,000 POI's - zip codes are the biggest part of that), and 15.5 or so without the card.
That may provide an answer to your question as to why, and how to reduce the time for booting.

My 855 takes about that long
My 855 takes about that long as well.

Oh! you have those Too!
Sorry, sorry, senior moment. I meant 20 seconds from stat up.
I also have senior moments, also called brain farts.
However, I don't think 20 seconds is excessive.

My SD card slows the boot up time
I have also found that the SD card lengthens the amount of time required for boot up. The unit boots up noticeably faster if I have the second map loaded directly on the GPS instead of the SD card.
