add truck route to nuvi255w?
or a low bridge alert
.
No. You can't add things. Only Garmin can via a firmware update. But I wouldn't count on it.
Yup
or a low bridge alert
You can download the "low clearance" POI file from here and then make it a "TourGUIDE" or "speed cam" alert ... both of which would sound off when you approach a low clearance bridge ...
The exact "how to" has been spelled out many times here ... do a search for "tourguide" for specific directions.
Afraid you are SOL with adding specific truck routing to the 255w
Garmin 205, 260W, 1450LMT, 2460LMT, HEREwego for iPhone ... all still mapping strong.
The 2xx Series Does Not ...
Do routes created outside the unit.
The POI "low clearance" is you best bet as suggested above.
If you ain't got pictures, I wasn't there.
low clearance alert
yea guys , thanks for the info. i'm now sitting here trying to learn from the tips section on setting up the alerts, but not having any luck running in the similation mode, bill
The 255 will not do voice
The 255 will not do voice alerts using mp3s.You will need wav files or use the standard bong alert by using poiloader in the manaul mode or building the alerts in using Extra Poi Editor and saving as a gpx file. Here is process for using wav . http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25730 . If you decide to use gpx file and build the alert distance in here is that process.
You can download Extra Poi Editor at http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor and build the distance in for the alert. When you download the program if you get message about OCX file missing scroll down on the main page and under troubleshooting you will find the Extra Poi Editor Installer that you will need to download. Once installation is completed you will need to set up the preferences you want first. Under options click on preferences. For example using ft for input. Under units you will see editor, select Imperial/US. For Field Read select metric and Field save select Metric. After setting your preferences click on file and click open to select from your computer the file you want to build the distance alerts for. Then go to edit and click on replace field. Once the next screen comes up use the down arrow for Field name and pick proximity. Under new field value put in the distance in feet you want for the alert. Then click replace all. You now have distance set for each custom poi. Then save as a gpx file. You will lose the built in alert if you save as a csv file. The nice thing about this method is that you can use express mode for poiloader.

low clearance alerts
ok, i found out that the couple of low bridges in my area aren't in the "low clearance" file here, so i couldn't make them sound an alert when running in simulator mode. i did learn today though that i can set the distance or speed in this unit. so i did learn something today.
Notify
Billy ... with any of the POI files online here (or anywhere else) ... they are only as complete as we, the forum members, make them.
If you notice a low bridge isn't in the POI file, or a restaurant isn't in a POI file ... please notify the person in charge of maintaining the file so they can add it.
Like I say, any of these POI files are only as complete as we all make them.
Garmin 205, 260W, 1450LMT, 2460LMT, HEREwego for iPhone ... all still mapping strong.
Low Clearances
You think a tour guide low clearances will work on a Garmin 265WT?

You think a tour guide low clearances will work on a Garmin 265WT?
Yes, it's a POI file. If you can load it, it'll work for you. Use the icon, and sound file that's appropriate for your unit i.e. .wav or .mp3.
