c330 Subfolders - POI Loader 2.4.0 beta

First of all, I may need to add the Krispy Kreme POI file with proximity alerts. That would be useful (and fattening) on road trips.

I am having an issue when I switched to the beta version of the loader, and put my files into subfolders. On my c330, I see my subfolders, but when I try and access the actual files, I get an hour glass and then it returns to the main favorites menu.

I have tried to upload a number of times, but no luck. I spoke to garmin software tech support, and they said I should make sure my unit has the most up to date software. I will try and work on this again tomorrow. Has anyone else has had this problem?

version

I'm just wondering, which version of POI loader are you using? The non-beta version seems to be the latest? Why would you use the beta version unless you have a Mac?

* POI Loader Ver. 2.4.1 as of Apr 25, 2007 Download
* Beta Software: POI Loader Ver. 2.4.0.1 Beta as of Mar 14, 2007 Download *
* Beta Software: POI Loader for Mac Ver. 2.0.0.1 Beta as of Apr 27, 2007 Download *

The problem is with the firmware not the loader

The problem is with the firmware not the loader. Update your firmware and reload the files and you should be golden.

Why by default subfolders POI load with alert setting

I have just tried uploading POI stored in Folders and everything is working well with my C330 (Firmware version 5.50), but all the POI files are loaded by default as Alert POI. The first file loaded had a 2 km/h warning alter, the second one a 1km/h alert.

Strange isn't it. If I don't select express upload, I can disable the alert and then everything works OK after.

Anyone experience similar problem? Could it be possible that something in my CVS inform the POILoader to do so?

thanks,

-Pierre

Number in file name?

Does the POI file name have a number in it? If so, that will cause an alert.

RT,

RT,

you are right. I tried to generate a kind of version number in the file name. That cause the mentioned "problem". SO if I name my file with the number "200" appearing somewhere, that will be handled as an alert if I get any closer than 200meter from the POI! That's interesting. I can see a conversion problem here (meter or miles), but simply renaming the file will allow anyone to adapt accordingly.

There should be other kind of info about POI. I need to find more details about its format. I have just saw someone POI containing in an entry name something like "@60" which I presume was a speed limit (in miles I would presume).... Need to find more info about that..

Digging, digging...

Thanks,

- Pierre

POI Loader

'POI Loader' help has good info on the POI format and different methods to set alerts, including the priority of each method. If that doesn't answer your questions, just post them here.
