Nuvi 265wt (traffic gone after update)

I just received my nuvi 265wt worked great out of the box on Thursday. Registered it online at mygarmin.com and it updated software, except now my traffic is gone!! I bought this one for the free traffic, searched all over garmin’s web site and found nothing.

What can I do, it was a surprise for my wife today and it's already jacked up...

Traffic is Gone?

The 265WT uses FM traffic. How is the traffic gone? Does traffic still appear on the menu? Go to "tools" "settings" "traffic" and make sure the "enable traffic" check box is checked. If there are no traffic problems going on no data will be downloaded. Which traffic receiver is it and does it have two LEDs? If they are both green you are receiving traffic data. In order for the traffic to be activated you must be receiving satellite data and traffic data at the same time.

On the 265 you have one

On the 265 you have one green icon for traffic when you are receiving data.No icon then you are not in area receiving traffic info.Green icon low severity, yellow medium severity and red high severity traffic. You have to have the receiver plugged into the cars lighter switch to receive data and to check your traffic settings.

Missing Traffic Option after sw Update

Same thing happened to me with my Nuvi 275 when I updated from sw version 5.5 to 6.20. The traffic option is completely missing from Tools->Settings. Also under Tools->Settings->About the GTM sw version 5.5 is no longer present (I suspect this is the problem). I'm trying to contact Garmin - we'll see.

UPDATE.
This shouldn't surprise me, but that's correct. The traffic option only shows up when the unit is plugged in to external power. Does not show up when running on internal battery - .

I have a 265WT and have

I have a 265WT and have updated it several times over the past year without a problem, however, you will only receive traffic when using the power cord that came with the unit. It will not get traffic while on battery.
When the cord is plugged into the socket, there should be a lit LED light on the plug showing it has power. It may also take several minutes after boot-up before the traffic icon shows on the screen.
