Some issues found on the Zumo - probably exists on your Garmin GPS too...

When creating a POI:

* If you use a carriage return to go to the next line within the comments section, they show up as little diamonds when you look at them under extras, Custom POIs. If you use the "|" character, no diamonds.

* Random repeating of your comments section. The 2nd line sometimes says the comment, then the 3rd line has the comment again. Dunno why this happens on some POIs and not on others.

I think those two things are bugs... sad

When creating a waypoint (favorite):

* The comments in your waypoint DO NOT show up within the unit. This seems like a big issue - wouldn't people NEED / WANT some additional data to be visible?

Any thoughts or advice are of course appreciated.

What program are you creating your POIs in?
1. Regarding the carriage return....if you force the return within Excel (alt Enter), you don't get any marks that I am aware of, at least on my c530.
2, The random repeating seems to be a bug.

I created the POIs by making

I created the POIs by making them waypoints inside Mapsource, saving as a gpx within Mapsource, then loading into my Zumo using POI Loader.

Is that a proper method or would Excel be better?

That should work.

I use Excel, but others prefer your method. I like to open the .csv file in Excel to check it out. Also, then I can use POI verifier on the .csv file to make sure it is correct.

As Mkahn pointed out he prefers excel, you like mapsource, I don't mind using notepad.

They all have their benefits and limitations. Utilizing the poi file verifier with csv files you can easily check for errors/duplications, easier than with the mapsource file.

Mapsource, you have the map and coordinates readily at hand when creating waypoints.

Notepad is a simple text editor.

Excel, is capable of a lot of manipulation - (sorting and such.)

pois with the zumo

I create waypoints within mapsource and then use the send to device icon to save it as a favorite.
