POI Icons

If this has been previously discussed. I wouldn't be surprised, though for some reason I can't find anything regarding this specific matter.
How come everytime one would browse or search around on a Nuvi they see these very cool icons representing various locations/businesses etc.
Though when you save the location in your favorites you can't save that icon with the location. And there is no way to add that icon to the address saved other than what options that garmin has previously installed.
Is there some why possible to add/save these various icons to favorites with the location information?

Have you an example of what icons your referring to? I have a 350, 760 and a 1490T and I don't recall seeing any icons for "locations/businesses etc." other than the ones I put there as part of my Custom POI data.
Nuvi 350, 760, 1695LM, 3790LMT, 2460LMT, 3597LMTHD, DriveLuxe 50LMTHD, DriveSmart 61, Garmin Drive 52, Garmin Backup Camera 40 and TomTom XXL540s.

He would be referring to symbols... Symbol Extractor will let you see them, but not add them.

You can't add a custom icon to a favorite at this time.You have to use the internal ones.Turbocc has been working on extracting internal icons from the gps and from what I understand the hope is to modify them.

When you search and locate a business location that isn't in your favorites. Just a couple that that come to mind at the moment, are Walgreens and Outback Steakhouse.
If they are not in your "favorites", Garmin has the location marked with a "symbol/icon" similar to their corporate logo. There are many others, just those two are the first two that come to mind.
But when you add the location to your favorites, the logo gets replaced with something very "Plain Jane!" Such as a soft drink cup for a restaurant. Or the well known RX logo for a pharmacy.
Is there some way possible when adding the address to favorites to save the symbol/icon at the same time? Even if its entered as Custom POI Data.
They are on file in the map data. Cause they are being displayed with that locale, until you add the location to favorites.

You'd have to add a custom .bmp to the Custom POI file. That's the only way.
But, you can use the Symbol Extractor, and then change an icon from a .png to a .bmp, and load said icon with your POI file.
