oh slow-o mio

Has anyone else been having problems with the search function in the mio 310x? I have about 5000 POI's that i've installed from this website and for work and it's killing the speed it takes to seach a PIO. Any hints?

my wife got me mio 310x on

my wife got me mio 310x on christmas but i returned it because its slowww

I haven't seen that

But then I have segregated my POI's by region and type. I keep several variations of the iGO.db just for that purpose. Almost all of my travel is east of the Mississippi, so most of my POI's coincide with that. I keep copies on my SD of the others, that include my basic primary POI's in each one, then run a script to rename each file and replace the original iGO.db with the new so that if, for instance like next week, I go to Texas, I have my Texas POI's in a separate db.

Works very well, and doing this hasn't shown signs of slowing my Mio much, if at all. What does slow it is the loading time when booting into MioMap, but that's because I'm running so many modifications...

HI Robin, It primarily slows

HI Robin,
It primarily slows my searching of POI
That's a great idea. Do you know where i can get a copy of that script?

It would be very helpful

I can post it

Not sure if JM wants to post the files here or not, but basically it's a text file associated with an exe file that runs the text on your Mio.

I'll post a note to JM after this and see if he wants to host that file, or we can put a d/l link to where I have it. Unfortunately, right at this moment my entire server is down being rebuilt so I could give it to you only via email, but it's a small file anyway.

Basically you copy your iGO.db file to a \backup directory on your SD card, then unzip the files associated on your computer and copy them in whole to your Mio. Then you go to the appropriate folder on your Mio and double-click the file you want to run.

All of this is explained in detail in the README.txt file that's accompanying the programs.

I'm putting the finishing touches on it now, and will make the file available for distribution shortly.
