POI help - distance

Ok I am working on a Custom POI.
I have loaded the Speed camera files from here and I see you can set the distance for the alert to go off.
I figured 1300 FT was good for those.
Now my question is. If you was setting POI for the alert such as stores, How far do you set these so they do not alert you over n over until you pass them.
Like I would want to know the store is with in a mile of where I am so I can go to it. But not have the alert going off while I go there.
Also is there a way to not do a custom POI and just add my selected stores as one name or under, so they pull upon screen when I do a search?

Speed cameras don't need a distance, they will alert on speed. The distance is 36 seconds before you reach the camera at your current speed. You need to look at the speed camera file and set a speed using the @ symbol for those cameras with a speed. Set a default speed for all others. I use 25 MPH.
Don't go crazy setting alerts, you will get to the point where you will start ignoring them and miss an important one. I set very few alerts, normally just cameras, rest stops and some fuel locations. That way, when one goes off, it's not covered by the 20 or so others for stores, restaurants and other POI I have on the unit so I pay attention.

The alert is applied to every location within a folder and this can be quite irritating for places that have many locations such as McDonalds or Wal Mart.You can make a special folder just for alerts for the special locations such as your favorite fuel station, your favorite restaurant, home etc.
