Nuvi 765T Bluetooth Junk?

Not sure if I got a Dud unit. I've been using the bluetooth feature on my Nuvi 760 for a couple years now, and it works great. A Few days ago, I switched to a 765T and the bluetooth is junk. It cuts out, people can't hear me, etc... Does this sound like a Dud unit, or is the Bluetooth feature worse on the 765 as opposed to the 760?
Any input is appreciated.

765 Bluetooth
I am still very disappointed with the volume level. I can hardly hear the person I'm talking to.
I think the Bluetooth is functional on the 765T
I have my Garmin Nuvi 765T paired with a HTC Touch Pro as well as an LG Evo2. Both synced without issue and have worked for me -- being pretty clear. Is it awesome sound -- I wouldn't say that. But then again what is when you are riding in a Honda CR-V (background noise is horrible for that model)?

I always used it in conjunction with the car stereo. My new car has audio inputs but the one I use for work is a '98 and there aren't any audio inputs. I use the FM transmitter in that vehicle. I listed to audio books from audible.com and, when I used to use the bluetooth from the nüvi, I used that through the stereo via the FM transmitter as well. Worked well for me.

Yes, it will sync, but awesome sound? Your 765t must be somehow special...mine is useless junk from day one...

Well I missed the "?"
If you read the sentence carefully, you can see I wasn't implying it had awesome sound... (I forgot the '?').
so my hope for 765T functional bluetooth died again...

xixixi...that's probably from the shock that they might make one that works. (my apology)

Bad luck

Mine just died, had for more than a year, if I could find a good used one at a reasonable price i would buy it in a heart beat. The blue tooth worked like a charm, clean and crisp in my Truck. Had it running on my old samsung phone, no phone book or anything. My new Nokia works just the same, but now i had everything showing on the 765T. Sorry to hear you don't like it. How much you want for it?

765T Volume Mixer
I am still very disappointed with the volume level. I can hardly hear the person I'm talking to.
I read this thread a while back and just started looking at it again. I searched it (keyword "mixer") to see if anyone brought up the Volume Mixer. My wife and daughter had the same problem with their phone volume but it was much better once I went into the mixer and set the Master & Media to 100% and the Navigation to 70%.
Neither 765T has had a problem connecting with 4 different phones.

Oops!
When I went to buy the first 765T a while back it was the first GPS I had purchased since my Lowrance iFinder. The "W" is BestBuy's designation for the wide screen and it slips back into my head every so often.
Thanks Speed2, its fixed.

765T
I have 765t and havent used the bluetooth yet. I hope it works good.
765T Bluetooth
Don't forget to check the Volume / Mixer / Media setting. This is the volume for the speaker phone. I suggest starting with the Media setting at 100% and the Navigation around 80%. Then use the Master from the main Volume screen to adjust the overall volume.

Can we retrieve the phone #s from the GPS if the connected phone is lost?
No
The contacts are only there as long as the phone is connected.

That's with all units

sucky bluetooth
One thing you should consider is that if you're using the mic on the 765 you need to think of the acoustic space it is in. If you drive a noisy car, or he unit is on the windshield, it just could be that your mic placement is awful. Mics in the vicinity of windshields always sound tubby. I just upgraded from a 750 to a 765 and paired my phone but haven't tried it yet. It seems there's a provision for an external audio device to pair with the gps too (ie a bluetooth headset) which could get the mic into the right position, and the GPS becomes the on/off hook, phone booth and caller ID, as well as having touch-dial for POIs with phone numbers, if I understand it correctly.
It's a $2 microphone, so make sure it's close to the exit on the gasbag, you'll have better results!

Sadly, you can't pair a BT headset with any nuvi as yet.

For that very reason....

I bought a bluetooth unit for my car...gave up om the 765T, just the bluetooth I mean...great GPS though!!
"Backward, turn backward, oh time in your flight, make me a child again, just for tonight."
The 765 does - even if it's BT implementation is garbage.

Not so. The 765 allows this. It even support A2DP.
Currently have: SP3, GPSMAP 276c, Nuvi 760T, Nuvi 3790LMT, Zumo 660T
.
My 775T can find my headset, but no way of entering the PW.
How did you manage it? Great info, BTW.

iPhone 4S
I have an older C550, with the Parrot chipset, and a 765T with the Motorola chipset. Hands down, the C550 Bluetooth is better but the 765T does work with my older Motorola V360 phone. The one thing I noticed is it takes longer for the phone to sync up and download the phone book with the 765T than it does with the C550. On the C550, as soon as I connect the phone icon shows up on the menu though the phone book may still be downloading. With the 765T, it isn't until the phone book is downloaded and other sync niceties are completed that the phone icon appears. When this first happened a few times I thought there was a problem with the connection. Still, once it is connected, it is working and I am able to dial and receive calls.
Sad thing is this is another case of where an older Garmin product actually works better than a newer product. This may very well be the last Garmin I buy as I shudder to think about how much worse things can get. I went for a 765T because I wanted the wider screen as well as the various feature my C550 has (MP3, audio books, Bluetooth, traffic). Newer Garmins are missing some of these features. Plus the buggy 3.90 firmware is the icing on the cake.
I saw this thread came back to life. I saw no improvement in the functionality of my 765T's Bluetooth in conjunction with my Motorola V360, despite recent firmware upgrades. However, back in October I was given an iPhone 4S that support Bluetooth 4.0. When I paired that with the 765T, I was quite surprised to see how well it works. It immediately pairs and downloads the phone book. To date, I have found the Bluetooth on the 765T, in conjunction with the iPhone 4S, to be rock solid. Either the iPhone is more tolerant of the quirks that might be in the 765T or being newer devices, they work better together.

Mine works fine
I have a 760, a 765t and a 885t and all do bluetooth well. I have remote microphones in both my SUV and my convertible. I normally use the 765t in the SUV and the 885t in the convertible but I move them around sometimes. The bluetooth on the 765t stopped working after a map and software update recently. I later found that the "trust always" switch on my blackberry was not flipped for the 765t and that was the problem. The phone was askiung if it should connect to the 765t and I wasn't seeing it so the phone took that as a "no" and didn't connect. Now that the phone is set correctly, the 765t is back to functioning fine. I don't know if the phone flipping the switch coinciding with the GPS update was a coincidence or what.

headset through bluetooth
bluetooth works well on my NUVIs. Never have problem.
I never tried bluetooth headset with NUVI. NUVI mic/speaker is good enough. If I ever need to use bluetooth headset, I would pair it with cell phone, instead of through NUVI.
