Strange Firmware Update

Just connected my nuvi 760 to Garmin an I receive an unidentified firmware update. I downloaded 4.90 a week after it came out and Garmin verified it as it was listed along with 2010.30 maps. It just showed that I had an update, it was not voices or anything like that. Anyone else get that or know what it was?

I assume you're using My Dashboard for update checks. Use Webupdater instead to see what you're getting. A search on this site's pasts posts for dashboard webupdater should bring you more info.

Yes I was using the dashboard, checked with webupdater and said I was up to date and no history, went back to Dashboard and it said the same thing.
The directions they gave me last nite were strange as well. It defiantly said firmware update, after a few seconds said update was finished, Do not turn off unit just unplug from computer, after the screen would go normal (which it did almost immediately), then plug the unit back into the computer, wait until it was recognized again, then press Done on computer screen. After following those instructions, and pressing Done it proceeded to download again. Once again it stated Firmware Update. This time it took several minutes, after which I was told to repeat the last set of instruction. After pressing Done it stated Firmware update completed.
I've been with Garmin a long time and many updates, but never anything like that.

Similar thing with my 855
I was on My Dashboard, it said update available, followed all instructions, again said update available. Tried again, and again. Still said update available. Phoned garmin, rep checked the updates on my 855 and said it was probably a web-site problem.
nuvi 855. Life is not fair. I don't care who told you it is.
