Slow tracking after Nov map update

I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this, or am I just hallucinating it.

After updating to the November 2009 maps on my Nuvi 760, it seems that the screen does not keep up with where I am. The lag between me hitting a landmark in reality and on screen appears to have increased.

Am I dreaming it? Is this an isolated incident, or are there others having the same issue.

i think i can see same thing

i think i can see same thing (when using 3D mode) after most recent (and my first) map update for US. anybody else seeing this ? any patches for this ?

i'm using garmin 275 (US+EU maps).

255w

I AM NOT HAVING ANY TRUBLE AFTER UPDATING. I have only notice that there is 3mph difference between you car speed and the speed GPS shows for that perticular moment. Not when you go on same speed for a long time. i think thats normal.satellite takes that much time to track you.

recent map update

I ahve a 660 and have had no problems witht he new maps. I travel the USA and have used it in many areas with no problems. In fact lock on seems quicker.

265wt

No problem with the update on the 265wt.

One user has found

One user found that by turning the 3-D map off, the response improved to where there was no discernible lag. Not having one of those units, I am not that familiar with the installed maps, but it is the MAP and not the display.

exactly, it work much faster after 3D mode off, however I prefer using the 3D though ...
I have this unit since a short time, but read also about some other users having trouble with 3D mode and new map update for US.

Try a hard reset after every map update and firmware update...

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/26136

That being said, the map updates always includes a forced firmware update on your unit if it does not contain the latest version. And firmware updates have been know to cause new problems along with fixing old problems.

As I mentioned, it's always a good idea to do a hard reset on the unit to clear out any funkiness in the unit.

Another vote for a hard reset

I have to agree 100%

After my 1st couple of updates, I experienced some quirky behavior and then saw a post here suggesting a hard reset. That cured the odd behavior and I've made it a practice ever since of performing a hard reset after any updates and have not experienced any issues since.

I really think Garmin should suggest a hard reset after any update and also include the steps to backup and restore the Favorites as they often are flushed during the reset.

Be sure to see the link DorkusNimrod included in his post. He did an excellent job of outlining the steps.

Hard Reset

How do you do a hard reset? I have a 755t that doesn't have a removeable battery.

This is it:

Power the unit off. Press and hold (and continue to hold) the bottom-right corner of the screen while powering the unit on. Continue to hold the screen until the "Do you want to erase all user data?" prompt appears. Press "yes" and the unit will reboot. Reset all your location settings and user preferences.

If possible after the hard reset, let the unit sit outdoors in the open for about 30 minutes or so to let the unit re-acquire the satellite almanac data.

I'll give this a try and see how it works out. I really prefer 3D view and would rather not give it up.

Slow maps/ no map data after update

Following my first map update (and OS update 2.3 -> 3.0) my new Nuvi 1690 displays a similar problem: "no map data" message when selecting a destination and slow tracking of basic map (no map detail"

I tried the above hard reset without improvement. Any ideas?
