Micro memory card with SD holder

I am buying an SD card for my 750. If I buy a micro card and pop it into an SD card holder, do they work OK, or is there a down side to doing it that way?

Micro SD Card

It should work, but SD or SDHC cards are a lot cheaper for the big ones. The only other disadvantage is that if you drop a micro SD, you better have eagle eyes!

The only down side

The only down side I've seen so far is that the older I get the harder it is to SEE the little thing. And my fingers seem to get way bigger when fumbling with it. Otherwise they work ok in my nuvi's.

It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.

Do it

It works well for me.

One reason for using micro cards (and an adapter, when needed) is that the one card can be used in more devices. My Topo maps on a micro SD card work directly in my eTrex GPS and work with an adapter in my nuvi.

Watch who you buy from

If you shop strictly for price there is a chance - slim that the adapter will not work right. I've got a 4G micro that can't be read in the adapter that came with the card, but it works fine in one from a major manufacturer. Nothing wrong with the micro, just the adapter.

Just the opposite

I have the opposite problem. Card works great in the adapter but can't get it to be recognized in a 1490 at all. I think this is a problem with the Nuvi and not the card however.

My 885 uses the micro, and I use an adapter for plugging into the computer. The low cost adapter doesn't work in my PC while the SanDisk does - with the cheap micro card.

Some Devices won't recognize large capacity cards

Another compatibility issue is the some devices won't recognize cards bigger than the devices state card capacity. (You can't just format the card at a lower capacity.)

Thanks everyone

The only reason I was thinking of going with the micro card in the holder is that I might want to transfer the card to another device in the future. Going with the micro card and adapter gives me more flexibility.
