Bought a Garmin Nuvi 1300T at Best Buy. We went in for a Europe map card else and saw this on sale so bought it as a spur-of-moment purchase. Went home to register it, but you cannot register unless you have it connected to your pc. Luckily I found the cable for my old 340 and surprisingly, it worked for the new GPS as well.
When I got the 340 a few years back, the cable was included as well as the instruction manual. Now you get the manual online and you have to buy the cable separately, a fact that the salesperson didn't mention.
But at least I got it registered in time for my daughter to borrow it for a trip to Europe that she left on this morning. But if I had not found the cable, she would have had to go with it unregistered and without the latest updates. I wish Garmin would out on the box that you need to buy that cable separately.

765t cabel
I bought a 765t 3 months ago. It had the USB cable with it. Maybe it was mistakenly omitted from the 1300t. Then again, it may be a cost cutting/money making move for Garmin. I dont know, just guessing either way.
Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. Chuck, Retard, still own the StreetPilot c340, but upgraded to the Garmin Nuvi 765t
Cheaper this way
Thats how they make the unit cheaper by not including extras. You are right .. they should have mentioned on top of the box what's included in the box. Then its up to you to figure out what you need.
Cheaper this way
It wouldn't hurt to call garmin and ask them it it is suppose to have one or not. If so they should send you one. Also look on the box sometimes it has what is included. The onlime manual should also show what is suppose to be with it.

Cable not listed
Garmin's website shows "what's in the box" for each model. 1300 does not list a USB cable:

Check
Checked the Garmin website and there is no USB cable in the 12xx or 13xx boxes. You have to spring for a 14xx before they "give" you a USB cable.
Here is "in the box" for a 1300, according to the Garmin website:
* nüvi 1300
* Preloaded City Navigator® NT data for the lower 48 states, Hawaii and Puerto Rico (no Alaska or Canada detail) or one European region or country (click versions tab to view all)
* Vehicle suction cup mount¹
* Vehicle power cable
* Dashboard disc
* Quick start manual

It had the USB cable. Maybe this is an exclusion for the lower price range units? I'm not sure here, so don't mistake my comment as flippant..

Yes but

Yes but the 1300 doesn't, only the lower 48 etc.
Garmin's Website
If the website's individual product "in the box" pages can be believed all of the 1xxxT models come with a USB cable EXCEPT the 1350T.
Doesn't make a lot of sense but that's what they list.
All other 12xx and 13xx come without a USB cable.
Usb cable
I don't know about the rest but the 1350T does not come with a usb cable.
My mistake.It starts with the 1360t with the usb cable.That sure doesn't make any sense.

Really? They sell the gps cheaper by not including a 50 cent cable?
Anyway, if anyone needs to purchase cables you should check out monoprice.com Been using them for years, great products at rock bottom prices.

No big deal. Only a few bucks at eBay.

That's different from my 750. I registered it without the USB cable hooked up. If memory serves me, all I did was enter personal info and some numbers from the unit's bottom sticker.
If Garmin requires the unit to be hooked up to the computer in order to register it, then Garmin should be required to supply the needed cable.
My 2 cents worth

USB cable
I did an upgrade from a 200. As a lot of units are upgrades, use the cable from the old unit. It didn't really matter, I have several of those cables any way from mice to external USB drives.

$.50 times a million units... But the shareholders love Garmin for it!

I had cables
Luckily I had several cables that fit my new 1300T. I was surprised that I could not register it without having it connected to my computer. I just think they should have had something on the box saying the cable was required for registration.
And interesting, when I tried to look up info on the 1300T on Garmin's website, it said it had not been approved by the FCC for sale yet. Seems like Garmin has some updating to do on their website. I had to go look at the 1300 to find a manual since supposedly the 1300T does not have one yet.
I plan to live forever. So far, so good.
