Deleting Garmin's poi's?

Has any new way been developed to delete poi entries that came with the Garmin? For example, would like to delete 10 or so Quisno's that have closed that keep showing up in the poi. I believe that originally no pois stored in the original Garmin program could be changed unless someone reversed engineered their program? Any help would be appreciated.

No you can not delete the

Charlies right about the individual POI

To delete all the Garmin POI, delete the map. They are part of the map data and only get updated when the maps change.

Correct me if I am wrong,

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought you can't search the custom POI like the original POI, such as search for a restaurant along your route and such.

why would you think that?

Custom POI have the same search capability as the provided POI, you just can't search them from Where To -> Points of Interest. They have to be searched from within the Extras entry.

don't mess around trying to

Yes, you can do everything with a Custom POI. Search this site for more info on how to, and check out http://home.comcast.net/~ghayman3/garmin.gps/index.html
for lots of good info.

In a nutshell, if you group your custom poi, example: put all restaurants into a restaurant folder, then when they arrive in nüvi via POI Loader, you will see a group labeled Restaurants. Within you may have Cracker Barrel, McDonalds, Friendlies, etc. but you also will have ALL. Thus you can look for a Cracker Barrel along your route, or any restaurant from the POI you loaded within that folder. The only limitation I am aware of is that you can have only one layer of folders within the main poi folder on your PC.

One cannot delete these, as they are an integral part of the map database. If there are errors and updates, one can sign up on the Navteq site as a Map Reporter to report these data.
