I just got a replacement 755T??

I just got a replacement 755T and it's new not refirbed. I'm told I get one free map update so if anyone knows what is the newest and/or when is a new one due out?

I also got a new power cord so I think my old one may be of use for someone. Can anyone enlighten me?

The cord does look different, it doesn't apear to have the two lights the old one had, but this one does have what looks like a resister pack inline with the cord. What does it do? And why the different design?

Thanks

.

The latest map update is 2010.20. Word is out that there won't be another update released for a couple of months so go ahead & grab the free update if your unit does not already have 2010.20 on it.

You can still use the old cable on your new GPS as the traffic subscription is tied to the traffic receiver, not the GPS. Try it and see...

The inline pod on the new version of the GTM cable houses the GTM traffic receiver circuitry. The older unit had it contained within the lighter plug (where the LEDs were). There should also be a small hole in the pod which is meant to accept an external antenna (other than the one built into the cord itself). I have never seen nor heard of this antenna actually existing though.

No, there are no LEDs on this new unit which were very useful (at least to me) on the old unit. I also do not like the pod so near to the GPS...it makes concealing and routing the cord much more difficult.

I'm glad I have two units of the older design.

You are right on, except to

You are right on, except to say the new one seems to be more durable as the cord is thicker and has a silicone feel to it.

Additionally, I think the new one gets better reception because of it's location. I didn't lose traffic once today! I think I'll try it with my 760 this weekend. Wife has it now so that may be a project.

I have 2010.10 on the new one and 2010.20 on my broken one, but there seems to be no difference in the map data.

Power Cord

VicMatson,

Check your email/PM's... I just sent you a Q about your power cord.

THANKS.

Might as well

Maybe not where you are today but there will be differences throughout the country. Your free update will be for 2010.20 so IMHO you might as well take it.

I have no idea how to, this forum is unlike any other forum I have ever used.It is certainly not obvious.

PM's

vic...

to send a private message/email thru this site... all you have to do is click on the persons name in the message and their profile comes up.

You will see three boxes at the top which say:

VIEW TRACK CONTACT.

Click on the box that says "Contact" and a form comes up just like an email text writing box.

Fill it out with your message and then click on the "Send e-mail" button at the bottom.

Thanks, but I'm waiting to

Thanks, but I'm waiting to get my CC refunded before I do anything. The first one that broke just came by itself, and this one was unopened new with cord.

I already sent the 755 back, but forgot about the cord and the rest of the hardware.
