Hello! New Garmin nuvi 265wt user

First I would charge it up and register it with Garmin. This will allow you to update your maps and firmware to the latest revisions. A new map just came out last month. The other thing I would do is download the manual from the Garmin site and look through it. They have a lot of features you do not see with the quick start one. They are actually pretty easy to use and everyone here is more than happy to help out if you have questions. The collective knowledge is really quite impressive. A fun POI to start with is the Diners Drive ins and Dives from the Food Network show. Gives a lot of POIs and you get a good idea how they work.

Welcome to the site.You will enjoy your unit.Even more when you start downloading your custom pois.Make sure to download webupdater http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp and get the unit up to date. The unit will not play mp3's.If you decide you want to get voice alerts for your custom pois instead of the bong alert.You can do that by installing a sox.exe file on your computer and use wav files for the alerts.Just post when you get ready for more info.
