Icons and sounds

I have a stupid question. I have a nuvi 350 and I have downloaded approximately 27 poi's. Only 4 off them are displaying icons. I have downloaded all of these from the poi factory along with icons, and where applicable, sounds. My question is this: even though I have downloaded all of these from the poi factory site, do I have to change the bmp files and mp3 names to match the csv files. My instinct is saying, "Yep, that is the way to do it", but before I go messing around and doing a lot of work, I would like to know if this is the case. I'm new to this and would like someones input. Thanks.

Yes

All .bmp icon and .mp3 (or .wav) file names must exactly match the .csv file name except, of course, for the extension

Example

Crackerbarrel.csv
Crackerbarrel.bmp
Crackerbarrel.mp3

The same applies if you make the .csv into a TourGuide

All must have TourGuide in the name.

Icons and sounds

Thanks so much for the quick reply. For some reason,(stupidity), I was under the impression that if you downloaded the mp3 and bmp files from the same category, it would somehow tranfer over correctly. I have been working on this for the last 4 or 5 days, so I decided that instead of driving myself crazy, I would ask someone in the know. I am just learning about custom poi's and am learning something new every day. Thanks again for the help. I (and my wife), certainly appreciate it.

I would go to the FAQ section and read the good info abomut custom pois and how to build then and add icon's and sounds. We have a couple of people that have written some very good instruction about thins. good Luck also try this web site. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/ghayman3/garmin.gps/index.html

Icons and sounds

I finally got it figured out last night. I was downloading the mp3's and icon's to my computer and had read quite extensively the many items that folks had written on this subject, so I was somewhat confused when they did not show up on my Garmin after downloading them. The problem turned out to be relatively simple. Upon downloading them I noticed that there was not a file ext. attached, so I attached either .bmp or.mp3 to the file name. However, I have a program on my computer that automatically assigns them to the proper file so that adding the file extension is completely unnecessary. I was adding the file extension and that was what was causing the problem. All is well at the present. Thanks so much for the help and good info. grin
