How to do this n that

Good Morning:
Using my very elementary computing skills, I have managed to get custom POIs from the POI Factory inside (and operational) my Garmn nuvi 760. I did use the Garmin POI Loader for that task, and have a file folder of those waypoints and icons on my compter.
I read most of the garmin-related FAQs, here, but could not discern any question or answer that dealt with my phase two problems....which are:
How do I get the custom POIs inserted in the Garmin MapSource progam on my computer? I did get the waypoints I ceated under "Favorites" from the 760 to MapSource, but I cannot figure out how to get the waypoints from the POI Factory into MapSource....either from my 760 or fom my file folder on the computer.
Any suggestions?
Secondly, I'm also didling around with Google Earth and have a couple of questions for the more learned folk, which I will pose in a follow-up email.
Blessings
Bill
mapsource will load gpx files.
if your POI was available in gpx format you can load that directly..
Seems you can not post images here? But here is a screen shot of my mapsource showing loaded brewpubs poi file. And where you change or check that when you open the file its set to gpx format

You can convert csv poi files to gpx here is a free tool.

There are quite a few places to convert from csv to gpx, etc.. I do believe its in the FAQ here.
What is your google maps question?
Loading Factory POI waypoints into MapSource
Thank you very much for your complete response. Tonight I will follow your suggestions and use the hyperlink you sent to convert .cvs files to .gpx files...will let you know how that effort works out sometime tomorrow.
I think I have about three questions dealing with Google Earth vis-a-vis Nuvi 760 and Mapsource. But just to stay in focus, I'll pose one of my questions now.
In your opinion, which mapping enviroment is more accurate when you set a waypoint on land?
For example, when I use the home address of one of my children and create waypoints in both Google Earth and as a Favorite in the 760, it seems to me the waypoint in the 760 is more precisely set to the correct location than in Google Earth.
Dealing with this basic question of precision will influence what I do when I want to set routes.
What do you think?
Again, thank you for your response above.
Blessings,

Addresses are calculated from reference points (street number ranges on a road segment), so the accuracy of any given address is dependent on the precision of the map reference points and also the formula used to calculate the specific address location from these points. If precision is really important to you, it is hard to beat using specific coordinates based on visual verification from the satellite images / street level views in Google maps. Once you have identified the specific point on the Google map satellite image, you can right click on it, select "Whats here" and Google will give you the coordinates. You can then enter these coordinates into the Nuvi as a favorite or via point on a route.

GPX and MapSource
If your file associations in Windows are set correctly, you should be able to click on a gpx file and it will open in MapSource automatically. CSV files are a different matter. There may be another way, but the only thing that comes to mind is to use something like Extra_POI_Editor to convert your csv files to gpx and go from there.
This doesn't respond to your question directly, but you might want to browse this site:

Gary has a LOT of ways to do things, some many of us never thought of until we read his many pages of info. Perhaps you will see an alter way of doing what you are trying to accomplish.
In years gone by, Garmin provided a mapset that included a POI database and then we put whatever else we wanted into Favorites (Waypoints), that was it. Custom POIs have brought us a long way from that point. It is important to remember that Custom POI and Favorites are 2 different things, they just seem very similar.

Extra POI Editor (EPE)
Turbocc, a POI Factory member has written a free editor which will allow you to see coordinates in Google Maps, Google Earth and Garmin's Mapsource program.
CSV files may be converted to GPX (for Mapsource) or KML (for Google Earth) formats. Magellan, Mio, Navigon, Navman and TomTom formats are supported too.
The program may be downloaded from http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor.
To add to TXRVer's response, coordinates generated from street addresses are only approximate. Coordinates from saved favourites on your GPS are the most accurate, so ideally if you can, create a favourite for the desired site. If you can't, use Google Earth satellite view to verify the coordinates.

WAASup
You're exactly right, I had completely forgotten that Turboccc had recently added the feature to show csv files in MapSource. No conversion needed.
I think that was alandb who was commenting on coordinate accuracy.
