I was driving on the loneliest road in the US (US 50) this past weekend and I had never traveled the road before. I took my garmin nuvi with me and it put me at ease. One thing that I was lacking was a poi file with all fuel stops on it. I see that there are many fuel poi files but I think it would be a great idea to combine all so you can easily select for example Fuel - USA and see all the gas stations that are near you. I am aware of the feature to find fuel on the garmin already but some gas stations are not marked. Anyone think that this is possible?
Wow
It is possible, but with as many stations open and close in just my area (wichita, ks) this project would be a nightmare.
You would want to ask the folks that manage the rest areas, walmart or other national files what they think.
It may be that you would want to limit the project to say stations on the highway or close to it (.5 miles or so).

One option
One thing you might consider is to download all the individual fuel stop files and put them into a single folder and name it something like FUEL. Put this folder into the folder where all your other POI files reside on your PC and then run POI Loader. You will now have a category within Custom POI called FUEL and when you open that folder up you will find a link to all at the top and then the individual brands listed below.
In this way, you can search for all along your route or near your location and you will be presented with all, not just a specific brand.
"There's no substitute for local knowledge" nüvi 750, nüvi 3597
That would be my suggestion...

I actually have two - one fuel and one Truck Stops. A lot depends on what I need at the time. If it's just gas or do I need to take a break where there are a few more facilities.

Thanks
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I actually just downloaded them individually and put them into a Gas folder like TXRVer said right before I read that post. Its a great idea. I also like the idea of the ones a certain distance from the highway. Anyways, thanks for the help guys!
Diesel Needs
It would be helpful if the POI's indicated if diesel was sold or not. I go over 700 miles per tank but it would be good when I need to fill up in a strange area.
