Lost my favorites - current.gpx recovery ?

I lost all the favorites in my Garmin nüvi 350 due to a unit reset, and have no recent backup 
I ran a file recovery utility on the GPS drive unit but couldn't find any bits of a previous current.gpx file where favorites are stored.
Has anyone faced the same problem and found a solution (better file recovery maybe) ?
Lost Favorites
Did the same thing on my 855. I did a hard reboot and lost all My Favorites. Had to reinput by hand. I was told by Garmin that this would happen. No way to recovery.
