annoyed and looking for advice

Hello I own a Garmin 760. All and all a fine GPS (my first). My wife now owns a Garmin 250 (I think). One of our few complaints occurs when entering an address.
We don't always know the city.
For example. We live in a suburb of Cincinnati. Someone 'not' in the know might try to find our house by entering our house number, then our street, then 'CINCINNATI'. Cincinnati is after all our mailing address. But we in fact live in Blue Ash NOT Cincinnati. And having entered the wrong city, they either won't find a match or they'll find a street and number similar to ours which IS in Cincinnati (which would not lead them to our house .
We run into this often with various address in the suburbs. Just today I had an invitation in my hand with the address of my destination. But the city was not listed. Knowing where the location was I made several guesses, but to no avail. Now I know Cincinnati fairly well so I know most of the various suburbs and townships. What in the heck could I do when I run into a similar problem in a place like Chicago??? I wouldn't even know where to begin.
So is there some way to avoid entering the city when entering the address? Is there someway to do this efficiently? What I mean is I KNOW when I'm searching POI's I had better be fairly specific or the search will take ALL NIGHT.
Thanks,
Bear
PS, some times I wish you could just enter the zip code. But I know that data is not a part of our maps. Are there any GPS's that do use zip code data??
use the zip code POI to find the city name
I use the zip code POI file to find the city name because of the same issue you had. It works about 95% of the time. The still are some places that are not geocoded.
etrex vista, Nuvi 350, Nuvi 650, Nuvi 750(3)
Just enter
All you need to do is enter the address without a city and you'll be presented with a list of all matching addresses in the data base and you can scroll to find the correct one. I almost never enter a city while searching for an address.

Google map or MS Live Maps
Enter the address in google maps or Live maps ... and then transfer the address as a new favorite in your gps. You can transfer it direct or use the lat and long of the address.
Garmin 205, 260W, 1450LMT, 2460LMT, HEREwego for iPhone ... all still mapping strong.

I would recommend choosing the state and "All Cities". Depending on the uniqueness of the street name, it will come back with various cities; a quick check of the locations of each of those cities will usually tell you which one is in the general area.
Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.
Thanks for all of the
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I didn't know I could choose 'all cities'. I will definitely try that. Doing the search ahead of time on Google maps of course is an option. But usually I'm out in the car when I'm trying to find some address and don't have internet access.

Don't forget to download and install the POI Factory's Skyline Chili file...oh wait, I bet you know where they all are already. Darn, now I'm hungry even though it's before 6 AM as I type this.
