Reroute

I am new at this, I want to go from Santa Maria, CA to Napa, Ca, the route the 765t selects for me is not how I want to go, but I can't find how to change it. I tried all the different settings, faster time, etc but get same route..I go to google maps, it has the way I want to go, but can't figure how to send to the GPS

Just select some additional waypoints along the route

Just select some additional waypoints along the route that will be along the route you would like to take and the GPS will reroute using the additional waypoints.

you can't send routes from Google Maps

you can from MapQuest, but you are likely to still run into a problem

after you send the route from MapQuest, and import it from MyData on your 765T, the nuvi is going to recalculate the route anyway.

the only workaround that I know of, is to insert waypoints at the intersections where you want the route to differ from the nuvi, and it will then route you though those points.

MapQuest will let you drag the route to the streets you want, but don't forget to add those waypoints.

hope that helps...some sad

Send Google Maps and Mapquest results straight to your GPS

There is another solution.

There is another solution. Since you already know the way you want to go, let the Garmin calculate the route, then just drive it the way you want to go. It will eventually figure it out.

Remember, it's a tool, and it's not driving.

Agree completely!

Agree completely. Don't be 100% dedicated to your GPS, make sure that you still know the general direction of where you need to go and how to get there. Let the nitty-gritty turn-by-turns be done by the GPS.

I was thinking of trying

I was thinking of trying that, when I turned off the assigned route, it would recalculate, then when it did the route I wanted to use, I could save it. Thanks for that solution

The Next Generation Will Have.....

What I expect Garmin to add to the GPS sooner or later.

Example of additions to route alert voices:

GPS: Turn right on Smith in 500 feet

Driver misses Smith

GPS: You missed Smith, now we are going to be late.

Driver proceeds to Harlem and turns left.

GPS: Are you lost, please turn where I tell you.

Driver pulls into a park with a nice bike path and notes the coordinates.

GPS: Let me know when you want to go to the Mall like we planned originally and I will recalculate the route.

Driver selects Mall as destination

GPS: Finally! Turn right on Harlem for 3 miles....
