Question regarding POI files. I download a POI file to my PC and succesfully load it to my 765T with POI Loader. A day later I download a different POI file.
How does the loading works? Do I reload all the POI from the files in my PC to the 765T every time I want to load a new POI file?
Or do I delete the POI files from my PC folder after they are installed on the 765T, thus when I am ready to install a new POI file, POI Loader simply adds the content of the new POI file to the database of POIs already installed on the Garmin?
Thanks in advance for the help!
.
Every time you run POI Loader, it creates a new POI.gpi file and places it in the same place -- \Garmin\POI folder -- thus overwriting the old file. So, most people just reload everything every time they do any updating/adding. There are techniques to avoid this by renaming the POI.gpi file after running POI Loader, or placing the POI.gpi files in separate subfolders under \Garmin\POI.
Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.
Thanks bentbiker!
Sounds like for a newby like me, I will just leave the POI files alone and they will update every time I add a new POI.
One more question, does POI Loader load both CSV & GPX files, or does the CSV files have to be converted to GPX before POI Loader loads them to the PND?
POILoader does CSV and GPX

POILoader loads both CSV and GPX. You just place all your POI files in the same folder and POILoader will find and load them both.
Thanks johnc
Appreciate the information!
poi's from garmin
I am also new to this. The poi loader does not recognize the .gpi format from a download from garmin's site (red light cameras) so I just cut and pasted to the POI file on my garmin. There was a .gpi already there and I do not think the .gpi file I pasted (copied) is being recongnized.....any help is appreciated.
You must use the POI loader
You must use the POI loader from the Garmin Download area. It converts POI files, .csv and .gpx, to the the .gpi format and loads them to the unit.

You can paste gpi files to your Nuvi POI folder - just make sure it has a different name for other gpi file(s).
