While towing an rv it is nice to know where all the truck stops are located. I have all the truck stop POIs on the gps.
I set all the truck stop pois on a Tour Guide audio alert for 5 miles out.
This works very well since the truck stops are usually off (but adjacent to)the interstates and normal alerts do not work.
Five miles gives me enough time to check the gas gauge and head in that direction if needed. The audio alert tells me which company to pull up and lock onto.
The major truck stops are available as GPX files here on POI-Factory. If you download Extra POI Editor, you can quickly modify the proximity alert distance.
Load EPE and open the GPX file.
Press < CTL >R to replace a field
Select Proximity from the drop-down list
Enter the distance and indicate OK
Confirm the action
Use < CTL >S to rewrite the modified file back to the computer.
Repeat as necessary.
Run POILoader and load the modified files to the GPS.
I set my Tour Guide alerts up in manual POI Loader. Will the use of Extra POI Editor as you describe override this alert?
According to POILoader, an alert set in a poi will override an alert set in a file name which overrides an alert set by the system such as for the different camera files.
The priority tree would be from lowest to highest
Proximity Alert set in POIloader;
Proximity Alert set in file name (usually a speed)
Proximity Alert set in a POI (such as @25)
Using EPE and doing the Replace Field would set the proximity alert in each POI so it would override a POILoader setting - at least that is my understanding.
I think I might understand that....Thanks
