265wt POI Display

Well I am the proud owner of a new 265wt. I've already had it in he car for more than a thousand miles or so and while it's "mostly" a good unit for the price, it is a bit pale compared to my 60csx with regard to POI displayed.
Perhaps someone here can enlighten me about how to have the POI icons displayed on the 265wt? I know it must be zoomed in to 300ft elevation or so, yet while it is in the car, even at a full stop the icons do not display.
To confound the matter, I noticed while I had the thing running on batteries and removed from the car it does display POI icons (e.g. while sitting in the house)?
Could it be a finction of having the USB cable plugged it, or perhaps some time delay after having travled at x speed for a while?
Either way, it's really annoying not being able to see the POI icons.

I've had mine for about 3 weeks as well and pondered the same question. As far as I can figure out only the custom poi's are displayed while navigating. To see the internal poi's you have to tap the screen and it jumps to a 2D map with the poi's. The car will still move but the map will not track with the car. A flaw in my opinion, but as for all the other functions a great unit for the price.

Depends if you are talking about the pre-installed icons or custom (bmp) icons.
You can see them if you're in "browse" map mode and zoomed in.
You won't see the pre installed icons associated with preloaded poi while driving. If you assign an icon to a favorite, you'll see that one while driving.
Custom bmp's will be visible while driving, if close enough to the location and the zoom level at least 300'
