Mass Restaurants

Anyone from Mass? I am going to be there for business and want to go to a nice restaurant. But not Italian. Better yet, does anyone have a POI for good restaurants in Mass? I am willing to drive a hour for a good meal.

Depends where you're going.

I use this site:

You don't have to put in a name of the restaurant, just a location.

Their ratings are pretty much on the money.

Enjoy!

If you are near Plymouth and you like fried seafood Isaac's On The Waterfront has an awesome fishermans platter! I know from experience that 2 people can't eat this one. Plus you have a terrific view of the PLymouth waterfront. You can see the Mayflower from this restaurant. I live about 20 mins. from there and am about due to go there again smile

Springfield

Plymouth is a good 2 hour ride from Springfield. I do suggest seafood in Mass., probably the best on the east coast along with Maine.

Vacation

Ray,

I'll be in MA for two weeks in June. Maybe we can meet up. I am here to close my grandmothers house down and bring her back to Indiana where I live.

My family wants to put my grandmother in a nursing home which I wont allow, so she is coming to live with me. I have to much love and respect to see my nana die in a place like that. My grandmother is 95 years old.

My grandmother is in fairly good shape. Her mind is all there and she is very smart. My Nana has done so much for everyone that they cant even help her out. Oh well at least I get to enjoy her now. She is all mine and I'm not sharing grin

I plan to take a few trips while I am there. I want to visit a few more Lighthouses. Now that I have a beautiful Lighthouse list I am able to visit more sites. I wish I knew about this site last year.

Last year I went to several LH's in MA, ME, CT & NH. I would like to see a few in NY. I just want to avoid the ones where I have to go through Boston to get to. I no the ones in Chattom MA I had to go through Boston.

Hmm Is there a POI file of Attractions to see. Like the house of 7 Gables and more in the MA area. I no there is an Attraction POI for Boston which I downloaded.

IF anyone would no Ray would grin Did you get your new 76CSx yet/ Oh and on the sound you can't make it louder.

Mass., etc.

Hi Mike,
I think it's commendable that you care for your grandmother that much. I wish my grandparents were still around. My Mom passed away less than 2 yrs. ago so I lost that too. I still have my Dad and he will be coming here for Easter dinner. Life is short so make the best of it.
Oddly enough I never have been to any lighthouses that I can remember. I would think it could be a lonely life living at some of them as they tend to be remotely located.
If you like mansions I suggest visiting Newport R.I. as they have some impressive "summer" residences from some very wealthy people such as The Breakers which was owned by the Vanderbilt family. Newport is a beautiful place and Ocean Drive is known for it's spectacular views of some of the most scenic ocean vistas in the USA.
Work has been slow so I haven't bought my 76GSx due to other necessities needed such as new tires for my wife's car yesterday. Got my bike started last weekend but it needs a new battery and I repaired my truck last weekend as well. If I can be of assistance let me know. BTW Chatham is on Capecod and not too far from where I live maybe an hr. or so.
Chatham's lighthouse is still an active Coast Guard station and visiting is limited. Here is the link about Chatham lighthouse: http://www.lighthouse.cc/chatham/

Lighthouse Visit

Michael, I'd suggest a visit to Beavertail Lighthouse in Jamestown, RI ( http://www.beavertaillight.org/ ). It is the third oldest lighthouse on the Atlantic seacoast. It is a great view. I've visited there several times, but I most remember as a young child visiting there with my folks and grandparents on a hazy day. We parked in the parking lot on the seaward side directly below the outlet side of the fog horn. Just as we opened the car doors to get out, the foghorn sounded for its first time. We nearly exited THROUGH the roof of the car we were so startled.
