Welcome

I have a somewhat biased opinion because I also have a 255W and it's not only compatible but one of the best units out there wink

Now to get access to the files here you'll have to do one of the following:

1- Become an active member

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/262

2- You support POI Factory with either a 5$ or 20$ membership

I just loaded it onto my mothers 255w and she loves it

$518 ticket

These tickets are virtually un-fightable regardless of reason. Recently picked up a 255w & added red light & speed camera POI. I like the audible & text i get when within range of them.

Yea i have a 255w but im not sure if its the best. I had bought a tom tom 340s before trading it in for the 255w because of the map update issue, but their map had the correct location for my home which has been here since 2000 while my garmin doesnt show my home correctly. Tom Tom has better maps? or i wonder if its the user corrected map.

255W

I have just purchased my Nuvi 255W and really like it. I got it for just $129 with free shipping from Amazon. Yes, it's a refurb unit, but it has the same one year warranty as the new units. I can see nothing that would indicate it has ever been used. Updating to the new 2010 map was fairly straight forward and free of course.
I, too, can't wait till I can download the poi's.

It's perfect

Hi Charles

I'm very happy with my purchase thus far. I wanted a good, solid, reliable unit and it's been doing exactly that since day 1.

It aquires satellites fast, has a fast processeur, calculates routes well, I can program multiple vias and it does what the GPS was built for.

Sure there are other models that have Bluetooth, can play MP3, have lane assist, voice recognition, etc, but I personally don't have a need for them.

There are alot of excellent makes & models out there and many different options to meet the personal needs of everyone.

If I had to recommend a model to a friend, my answer would be based according to what his requirements were and not necessarily the model I like.

Cheers
