MP3 file structures for Nuvi 350

Not to be stupid but...
I've had a Nuvi for several years. I put some MP3 files on it in the past, and it created a play list. The GPS shows files by artist name, and then the songs within. The computer that ripped MP3 files for me is now dead, and I'm using a Mac and a new program. It created MP3 files, and when I transferred them to the Nuvi, everything is now listed under artist 'Unknown.' What do I have to do to get the files separated by artist? They were loaded within a file, by artist name.

Search this site for "id3 tags" and you will find numerous discussions on this topic.
All of the song info is stored within the mp3 file in whats called an id3 tag. It appears the program you are currently using to create mp3 files is not filling out the id3 fields.
