On the 885T it looks like Im leaving bread crumbs on the screen in the form of blue lines. Is there anyway to turn them off or clear them.

Is Garmin now adding Breadcrumbs to their packaging as a backup system for bad firmware downloads?

My 265WT has been doing that from day 1 (Feb 2009).
I think that option has always been there. I don't think you can turn it off. If the route you are on crosses a route you've been on before you will see the blue lines to show you have been there.

Displaying the blue line is an option, you can turn it off. Look for a display option called track route or trace route. You can clear the log. But you cannot stop the gps from logging new points, you can only turn off the display and clear it when you wish.
Bread Crumbs
Try the following and see if it works on your unit.
Tools-->Settings-->Map-->Trip Log
Select Hide or Show

That was it. I put it on Hide and its gone.

clear the trip log periodically
It's also a good idea to clear the trip log periodically. It's been know to be part of the cause of long boot sequences (at least on the 7x0 series). If you have no use for it, clearing it off the nuvi on say, a weekly basis or so is good practice. Tools>My Data>Clear Trip Log.
