this morning my Nuvi760 started to act up - the car icon was not attaching itself to the highway i was driving on ( it was between the highway & a parallel side road. Ofcousrse it generated many recalculating annoncements. I figured the computer didn't boot up correctly, so i shut the unit off and after a few minutes restarted it and all was well again.
did this happen to anyone else and how did you solve that problem ?
It's not sun spots
Haven't been many of those lately - In 2008, no sunspots were observed on 266 of the year's 366 days (73%). To find a year with more blank suns, you have to go all the way back to 1913, which had 311 spotless days (85%): from www.spaceweather.com

I'm also a 760 owner. On
I'm also a 760 owner. On July 3, I got several "recalculating" announcements. I followed what it told me to do but when I made the turn, Nuvi went "recalculating". I thought I made a wrong turn but when I took a glance at the display, the car icon was on the right track. Several miles later, it did it again. So annoying.
July 8
This happened to me on July 8. When I started up JillMap I was driving on grass for two or three miles then she straightened up and minded on her own!!!

sun spots coming
"The sun is putting on its own 4th of July fireworks show. A new sunspot is rapidly emerging in the sun's southern hemisphere and it is crackling with B-class solar flares. The magnetic polarity of sunspot 1024 identifies it as a member of new Solar Cycle 24. It appears to be the best offering yet of the young solar cycle." (This was written by a ham radio operator that uses the effects of sun spots to bounce signals around the world.)
Just read this on the chit chat of for the week.
May be what is causing this!

gps problems
What you did is a way to solve this problem. gps is just another computer and as any of them has from time to time software glitches. That is why you got firmware updates.
If it is acting up just restart it, than eventually try to reset it (check manual how to do it, because some resets will as well clear all user data) and only if this doesn't work look for something else to blame
760 has a real problem

My Garmin has been doing the same thing. I reloaded the software and it seemed to fix the problem for a while. The really bad thing is that my wife was driving from Florida to help our daughter in Indiana when Jack went dumb and mute in Kentucky. Sent her 38 miles out of the way and without a cell phone Google maps she might still be in Ky. Actually, she stopped and paid $7 for a paper map, then she still needed my help and Google maps.
I do hope Garmin comes up with a fix for this one. My fix was to buy a 755T, and with the issues there have been with that series I am no longer much of a Garmin fan.
No 760 Problems Here
Use it everyday, Fri drove over 100 miles north. I doubt that sun spot activity would cause a GPS problem, have no tech info on that but if it was true then look for alot of lost aircraft.

Who to blame!!!

The Mother-In-Law is always a safe bet to blame for anything that goes wrong, and if your wife does not believe it, then tell her, the devil made you do it

Hmm!
I just drove 400 miles to Hilton Head Island on the 4th and spent the week (4-11) there and used my 760 daily while there and had no issues; even on the dates mentioned in the post. I just got back today (400 more miles) and my 760 worked perfectly.
