Watch Digital TV on your GPS

Mio has introduced the Spirit GPSr with a digital TV receiver for sale in Europe. It says you aren't supposed to watch TV while driving but it has nothing that would prevent the receiver from operating while in motion, just a warning screen. Most US states have laws that prevent a TV from being visible to the driver while in motion.

And you thought cell phones or texting was distracting...

having television in the bedroom, dinette, kitchen, family room, at work, in bars, restaurants, now on GPS's, you just cant get away from the thing!

Nothing to me is as madning as going out for a restful dinner and finding a TV dangling from some corner, whose sound radiates throughtout the dining area, claiming everyone's attention, wheather interested in it's offering or not, Amazing!

It will be interesting to see when we see something like this in the US. I know that Garmin has this available in Italy https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=14807 Of course the US ATSC standard doesn't work while mobile anyway, so no worries about watching while driving. If the new US mobile TV standard gets a little more mature, look for Garmin to add it here in the US http://www.openmobilevideo.com/about-mobile-dtv/ If it allowed an audio only mode while in motion, would that be so bad?

Digital TV will be available on all handheld device in the

future for sure...

Too much

I can see it now. Officer I didn't see him I was watching TV...

Audio only is like radio, with one potentially interesting exception. Imagine people driving, listening to the big game on their blacked-out tv. All of a sudden there's a huge, game-changing play, and half the traffic on the road pulls over all at once so they can see it on the screen. mrgreen

I guess they want us to have

I guess they want us to have more reasons to have more accidents. lol.
