did you register the nuvi?

if so, it's possible that you are simply not within the coverage area. have you viewed the coverage maps online?

I just experienced the same problem. I just bought a nuvii 265wt also. Once you plug in that cable into your car, you get that "traffic" option. I was on the Garden State Parkway,in New Jersey near exit 86 going southbound. I was stuck in traffic for almost 1 hour. The Garmin was telling me everything was fine ( I had that green icon). I was totally pissed. But after doing some reading on this matter, I have discovered that this "free" traffic advisory only works in certain geographic locations. I guess thats why its given to you free. LOL

If you get the traffic icon, (different on different models) that means the traffic receiver is on and working. By working I mean receiving a signal from the traffic service. (When in a non service area there will be no traffic indicator) It doesn't necessarily mean that it will indicate the actual traffic conditions as you see them. There are plenty of times there are red conditions indicated and nothing is in sight. As well, plenty of times when traffic is at a standstill and the indicator is "green"

It's no different than listening to a radio station and they say there is "an accident and only the left lane is getting by"...and when you get there ... no accident 3 lanes doing 70mph. Or "the accident is in the clearing stages" and all lanes are stopped.

The traffic service isn't perfect, but it's saved me more over the past 3 yrs than not.

I purchased the same model from Costco and traffic seems to work fine (Chicago area). You have to use the car charger for the traffic to work.
