Screen Shot?

How do you people use Screen Shot? What is the purpose?

Screen Shot

It depends on what model you have but you have to enable screen shot in the settings. Then some units display like a camera icon that you push and it takes a screen shot and some you have to push the power button. I used it on one of my trips I went up a mountain in the Rockies and took a screen shot of the elevation to add it to my photo album. some people take shots of there fastest speed it's all fun.

I used Screen shot to help the repair shop

Awhile back, my Nuvi 360 was kicking up with false alerts in weird locations (like the middle of nowhere Libya).

I used screen shot to capture the images and included them in a letter to the Canadian repair centre in Montreal.

They remove any doubt you are having a problem not caused by the User.

Screen shots

I can think of 1 or 2 other features that I would have rather had included than screenshots, but as RKLLKR said, it could be handy if you have a repeatable problem. You could turn on the "camera" and take a picture of the screen(s) you're seeing and then attach the pics to an email to Garmin if needed.

In case you had a friend you email to who has a similar model, and you were trying to explain how to do something, you could capture the sequence of screens and email the pics.

I liked the screenshot someone posted where their speedometer recorded 938 mph!

Screen Shot

I will keep that in mind if I start to have problems. I will just have to remember to do so.......

Creating documentation.....

I create and maintain a set of POIs for my office showing the 35 offices we cover, preferred hotels and restaurants. Many of the users are completed novices so I developed documentation for them that includes screen shots as you drill down to the custom pois. Hopefully, it helps them.

Great Idea

Thats a great idea. Good use.

Screen Shot

I use it to make instructions for people that may not have used a GPS before. As an example, I created a Word doc describing how to load POIs. I use the screen shots, within the document to show people how to navigate the GPS and turn on the proximity alerts and how to find the danged files after.

You might also use it to send trouble shooting info to Garmin, etc. by sending them a picture of what you see on your screen.

I'll do this for my wife.

Bob: My toys: Nüvi 1390T, Droid X2, Nook Color (rooted), Motorola Xoom, Kindle 2, a Yo-Yo and a Slinky. Gotta have toys.

I use the camera

to capture rough Lat/Lon's of POI's as I pass by. I use this information to verify whether the POI is in the appropriate file and if not, report it. I forget to set it up most of the time, but have made a promise to do better in the future. razz

I think it should be a standard feature on the main map and be there when you power up.
