Nuvi 760 - Difference in Volume between Voices

So I purchased the 760 because of the voice that reads the street names, but I've noticed that that voice is much quieter (volume-wise) than the traditional voice (even with volume set to 10). Does this happen to everyone else? It's pretty annoying. Anything I can do to make the "street name reading" voice louder?

Thanks.

Yep, you can adjust the underlying volume of the TTS voices. One of our members actually created a free program which allows you to adjust the volume as well as create your own phrases. Its really cool.

Take a look at this...

It should go without saying, always backup the contents of your nuvi before you make any changes. I've used this program to edit a copy of the TTS file I like and it did permit me to boost the volume within that file.

TTS Editor

The TTS Editor works great and I was able to share some levity on out trip out of town this last weekend when I changed some of the voice prompts.
And the volume boost is a great plus.
Thanks to the creator of this app.

Just want to chime in to say yes, Garmin VPM voices aren't loud enough. Use the tool given by other posters. I bet you're going to like it.

Adjust the navigation volume

The 760 has several volume adjustments. What works pretty well for me is to set the Navigation volume to 100 and the master volume to 90 or 80. That brings up the level of the navigation prompts in comparison to the other sounds, like MP3 playback.

The editors that let you adjust the volume level of the voices will also help. Just don't boost the voice level too far or it will get distorted.

Just what I need

I am going to download this tonight. It sounds like just what I need.

im going to look into this

im going to look into this also

Thank you for the useful info

I wonder if there's a way adding Chinese TTS file to a US model....I got the Chinese TTS file from China 760 model, but when I choose it in voice setting, saying firmware not support this file...so I am thinking if there's a way to edit the voice file to make it work with 760. My dad doesn't read English, his nuvi 760 already display Chinese, and read Chinese, just missing the street name..
Thanks for looking into this...

What volume level increase works for you?

I realize this is subjective, but I do want to increase the volume of the TTS voice I normally use.
Just curious as to what level works for you without distorting.

thanks for the help everyone!

With the voice editor, is it

With the voice editor, is it possible to correct pronunciations for certain street names?

don't think so

I don't believe you can use the editor to change the street name pronunciations.
