General Maintainer Status

I'm so sorry if this is a repeat post. It seems like it would have already been covered by someone, but I just can't find the answer. I promise I've read the faq's and searched quite a few posts, but can't find the answer I'm looking for. I think my question is a simple one. My question is:

What is "general maintainer status?"

I see active status and understand that. Basically I have to have posts in 3 out of 5 weeks that I post to have active status. However, in "my account" underneath where it says, "progress towards active status" there is a part that says "progress towards general maintainer status." This one says "Over the past 26 weeks, you have qualifying activity in 7 week(s). 9 weeks are required for general maintainer status." What exactly does this mean? What is the difference between active maintainer status and general maintainer status?
