May want to give us a little
May want to give us a little bit more detail on the problem.By any chance are you in the area you set the security location for?

Yeah
If you are at your security location, the unit automatically unlocks itself.
More info will help us solve your problem. Are you seeing the problem when you try to lock the unit? Are you expecting it to lock itself when you power down so that it requires a password upon re-powering? There are a lot of settings that affect the lock function with more info, we can get your unit working right.
Garmin Lock wont work
When I power down the unit I was expecting to be locked when I when I re-power the unit. Yes I am in the same location that I set my security location.
This is my first portable GPS.

Choosing your home as the security location is probably not the best idea. A thief need only go to your house, turn it on, and turn off Garmin Lock. But, at least you know your unit is working correctly.
Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

If you keep your GPSr unit on you or in your computer bag at all times when not in use, you should not have to be concerned about it being stolen. For this reason, I do not use the Garmin Lock, as it quickly became nuisance to me after the novelty wore off.
