A Nuvi battery question...

Hi All,
The battery in my Nuvi 880 is a removable, rechargeable lithium-ion battery, with a battery life up to 4 hours. The problem I’m experiencing is that the battery, after a full charge, is draining while not in use.
My Nuvi 670 maintains it’s charge, without the battery draining, when it’s not in use. The last time I charged the 670 was over a month ago and the battery is “still“ fully charged.
2 questions:
1. Is there a removable, rechargeable lithium-ion battery for the 880 that will give me a “longer” battery life?
2. Is there a setting on the 880 that is drains the battery, even when the unit is turned off?
Thanks for your time...

My limited understanding of the 8x0 series is that they can't actually be turned off. They just go into a sleep mode. If that is correct then maybe something is wrong with your unit so that it isn't shutting down properly.
If you're within the one year warranty you may want to call Garmin and see if they will fix/replace the unit.

Sounds like your only option is to take the battery out.

Hi GadgetGuy2008,
Thanks for the info. I wasn’t aware that the Nuvi 880 didn’t actually “turn-off” but went into standby mode. No wonder the battery drains. I just re-read the owners manual and it states to “turn-off” the unit, the battery “must be removed“.
Thanks for your help...

ON - OFF Switch
I wonder why Garmin didn't just make it simple, and use a ON/OFF switch instead of "Take the battery out".
Seems like technology is going backward instead of forward. Like.....well guys, you all go on without me, I have to take the battery out of my car to turn it off.
