DirectRoute 2 – has stopped working under Vista?

I have been running DirectRoute 2 under Vista for about a year. I have Vista set to do automatic updates. One of the recent updates disabled DirectRoute.

When I use Mapsend, the DirectRoute tries to launch for a brief moment then returns to the Mapsend program. When I launch the DirectRoute .exe the program will not launch (with the same symptoms) and returns to the File Explorer window (directory listing). I have tried running the software under all “Compatibility Modes”.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled all Magellan software: DirectRoute, Mapsend Topo 3D , Mapsend, VantagePoint twice with no improvement. I have tried using the No Cd hex hack changing the string 00 00 84 C0 75 11 6A 01 E8 to 00 00 84 C0 EB 11 6A 01 E8 in the executable with the same results.

Is anyone having these problems…is there something I missed that might get DirectRoute to to run again under Vista?

DirectRoute 2 - Virtual Drive - reinstallation, same results

I uninstalled DirectRoute 2 again and reinstalled the software from a UltraISO virtual drive. Mapsend DirectRoute still exhibits the same behavior in that it tries to start for a brief second and then quits I am at a loss. I went to the Microsoft Knowledge base and found no entries for DirectRoute.

Any ideas?
