265t

My question is this. I have loaded POI's onto a micro sd card for use on my 265t unit. Everytime I power it on I am aked if I want to transfer those POI's to the unit. I have to answer no. My 680 gives me a choice to "not ask again". Is there a way to not be asked each time I power on the 265t? I want to keep them on my micro sd card and access as extras only. Thanks,
Jon

Once you select don't ask

Once you select don't ask again you should not be prompt again to install to the unit until you install new pois to the card.

I never get the chance to select "don't ask again" as it does not appear. It does appear on my nuvi 680.

Say Yes if you mean no

Answer "Yes" on the 265T and you'll get the checkbox you want and a chance to say "No" to the specific file.

This time answer yes. When the next screen comes up you should get the option to don't select again.I have a 265 but only tried my card once for pois.Have not tried it lately. Some units you have to answer yes to get to the screen to stop the prompt.Pretty sure that was what I done.

Thanks for the fast response. I followed your directions and it works fine now, no more asking to load. Gotta love this site with all the knowledge here. Wish Garmin would look in once and a while and maybe they would learn something. Again THANKS!

You don't need a reboot

After telling the Nuvi to quit nagging about the new poi, you don't need to reboot. Just use it and when you are done for the day turn it off. Next time you use it no nag screen - which is the same as your reboot.

Guess I'm confused

Won't this method load your POI's to the Unit's main memory. Then load them there every time you load POIs. If so - Why even load them to the SD card to start with? Guess I'm confused. I load the POIs to my SD card to keep my main memory as free as possible or so I thought.

No.What is explained in the post is how to stop getting the message to load them to the unit every time you boot up.You can keep hitting no every time if you want to put up getting the message every time you turn the unit on.

Yes then No

Mark,

I have not tried this, but it sounds like you answer Yes to get to the next screen, uncheck, and then Skip to not load POIs to internal memory.

That is right.You have to

That is right. You have to say yes to get to the next screen to put the check mark in to not ask again.Pois still stay on card but stops the prompt each time you power up.

I said uncheck when I should have said check.

Charlie, thanks for the clarification.

Logically it doesn't make

Logically it doesn't make sense.Should all be on the first prompt page. Not covered in the manual on top of that.

.

So using the sd card is mainly for POIs? What else what you put on there since this model does not have any mp3/audiobook options. Lots of photos? My POI folder is only 9.5 MB. How much space is on the 265T? I had a 260 but returned it. It was lagging behind a city block most of the time and I kept missing turns. Our 350 is spot on. I must have had a bad unit but I don't want to try to find the revision B again so I'm getting a 265T.
