Red Light Cameras Soon to track speed

Here in Edmonton Alberta we have had red light cameras for awhile now. Now it was reported in the news that they will now track and ticket speeding through red lights with those same cameras! In your areas how has that change contributed to possible rear end collisions? I have always known that people do speed up through lights when they change from green to yellow. Now in those cases there are going to be people that slam on their brakes right in front of the red light runners.
Any supporting evidence to that fact?
Just want to be ready when someone ends up in my trunk!!
If you look closely at my avitar you will see I don't have much of a trunk. If I'm ever hit in the back side then they might as well fold the car in two and insert it into the ground!
Too much ticket revenue and not enough traffic training!

Winnipeg has had the speed detection function at the red light camera intersections for over six years now.
I'm not aware of any reports of increased rear end accidents.
Because the speed function works when the light is green you can get a ticket when going through a green light and travelling over the limit. That upsets a lot of people
Speeding through a red light gets you two tickets.
I only visit Winnipeg a couple of times a month and don't drive fast so it's not a big deal for me. I did install the Winnipeg red light camera POI on my GPS, but I only did it because I'm a techno geek

I didn't know that the speed cameras were active during the green light phase! I was guessing that there were only ticketing when people run the red.
I also have the red light POI on my 250W and the alert tone does slow you down.
Now I see that people are watching the walk countdown clock to estimate if they have enough time to make it through the light before the yellow phase. When the roads get slick here it is not uncommon to slow down on a green if you know that you will get caught in the yellow trap.
