Nuvi 255w users

When you enter a destination to navigate to, and 255w navigates you there, does the navigation stop? Do you have to go into the menu and stop it on the main menu screen?

I tried sending an email to support, and they don't even read what I sent, they didn't get the type of garmin I had right. So I plan on calling them and see what they say.

thanks,

No you don't have to go back

No you don't have to go back to the menu once the destination has been reached.

works the same way with my 765T

if you do go to the main menu, the STOP icon is no longer there after you have been informed that you have reached your destination smile

That's my point, the stop is

That's my point, the stop is always available, even after I reach my destination. It never goes off when I have used the navigation

Do you can voice message

Do you can voice message that you have arrived at the destination? If not the coordinates may be off and as far as the gps unit is concerned you are not there yet.

the "destination" could be the door of a business, the "main" parking lot entrance etc. etc.. if you enter from a different end of a parking lot, don't drive all the way in front of the store, etc., you may not be reaching the destination as your gps recognizes.

just hit stop and move on - it served it's function ... got you where you wanted to be, right?!

If is a custom poi. What is

If is a custom poi. What is the address and the coordinates you have?We can check it out and see if it needs some re-tuning.

50/50 for me

About half the time I hit the Stop button. I think it has a lot to do with coordinates. If it's a residential address and it navigates me into the driveway, it seems to auto-stop. But for some businesses when I get to the parking lot I hit the stop myself, maybe because the coordinates are at the front door.

Also have to hit stop sometimes

Yeah, sometimes I also have to hit stop, and sometimes it auto stops. I never tried to see if its related to the coordinates are on an actual street, or if its "off" the street.

I think the coordinates are

I think the coordinates are off. The streetpilot worked fine. Could be the map system is off to my home. I set home with "current position, than it can find it when I navigate back to it. It gets me close. I might try using my proximty alert for my home as the destination and see how that works.

I will just hit stop when it doesn't work.

thanks for all the replies.

Business coordinates are usually at the street in front

Business coordinates are usually on the street out front, not in the parking lot in front of the store. It's very common to enter the parking lot and park in front of the store but since the coordinates are 200 yards away along the street, it doesn't think you have arrived yet. You could zoom in and you will see the difference between where you are and where the POI icon is actually on the map.
