MP3 Player Function Nuvi 360

I have about 300 or so songs on my SD card and I have the shuffle and repeat set on the Nuvi player. At times I have had the same song played several times within minutes of each other. I have checked for duplicate files...I guess the player does not eliminate the file from its shuffle once it plays?

anyone have a guess?

My Nuvi 750 does the same.

My 650 does the same thing, bugs the s*** out of me.

Try it with the repeat off and with the shuffle on. That should avoid repeat songs. Like you, I have my music on an sd card. I also do not have any music on the NUVI drive.

one possible workaround

I think that I may have experienced the same thing on my 765T, but at the time, I had more than the 1000 track limit that Garmin recommends staying under, so I thought that may have been the reason.

But reading the comments here, makes me think it may be the player itself.

One possible workaround would be to create a playlist that includes all of the tracks you want, and randomize it in the app that creates it before saving the playlist.

You can do this in winamp for example.

Then open the playlist in your nuvi's mp3 player, but make sure that neither repeat or shuffle are chosen in the player itself...just let it play the tracks in the order the playlist has them, as they are already shuffled.

Of course, the track playback order will be the same every time, until you create a new randomized playlist, but depending on the number of tracks, and the duration of the trip, this may not be an issue, and the playlist can be quickly re-randomized and re-saved for your next trip.

Hope this helps smile

"True" random *should* occasionally replay the same song

Most peopole don't want truly random playback. We want it to scramble the playlist in random order and then play it in that scrambled order. I suspect that the Nuvi's are adding more "randomness" than what we are used to with other MP3 players.

Some adjustments

I have taken several of the suggestions from the postings, thank you all for them.

I now have randomized songs on my SD Card, shuffle off on the Nuvi, but I did keep the repeat on (I want the continuous play). Now if I come to a song that I really don't want to hear at the time, I can skip it and not worry about it popping up in the future.

Also, I know there really isn't a comparison here, but my Onkyo DVD player will play random with no repeat or random shuffle. I hope a future model will offer more options.
