Finding a nearby road?

I took my Gamin 760 for a spin yesterday and on the way home I wanted to travel to an adjacent road.
I new the road was say 10 miles to the west but I didn't know if any of the side roads i was passing would intersect.

My question, what would be the best way to find the adjacent road? I tried 'Where to', then 'Near..' 'Current Location' and then 'Address' but it needed a street number, no good (I don't know that). I don't know an 'Intersection' (that's what I am trying to find, the nearest one).

Also, when not on a route and I choose 'Where to' and 'Near..' 'Current Location', 'Address' why does it ask me to 'Spell city' etc...I asked for near my current location???

thanks
Paul

You can skip the street number prompt ... just hit "done" and move onto street name.

you could also view the map itself ... zoom out if needed, and most connecting cross streets will be displayed.

finding a nearby road

I don't know about your model but on my 260 I can view the map, click on the point where I would like to be then click on go. You can then view the route the gps plots and decide if it is worth your while to take that route.
