Verizon Cell Phone Compatible With Garmin Bluetooth?

One of the main reasons I upgraded to a nuvi 760 was Bluetooth compatibility with my Verizon LG VX8325 cell phone. I had assumed that all phones with Bluetooth would work with the nuvi. It turns out that my phone is not compatible.

My contract is up in October and I will look for a phone that is compatible. I only use the phone for making and receiving calls. I don't play music, take pictures etc.

I know that in the world of cell phones October is very far away but I was wondering if there are low cost phones out there that work with the nuvi? Are any brands any better than others with the nuvi? I don't want to waste the money on a Blackberry or an iPhone.

Verizon wireless

I use:

Motorola Motorola RAZR V3m
Motorola Adventure V750

Are both compatible and Verizon serviced

.

This may sound silly, but why don't you take your 760 into a Verizon store and test it with the phones you like.

Compatible Verizon phones

My enV (first one) LG 9900 and my Voyager LG 10000 are both compatible with my Nuvi 660. Work well and almost to easy sometimes because if I forget to disconnect and have the Nuvi on inside, it picks up my calls rather than the phone. I would do as suggested tho and take your Nuvi with you to the store.

Voyager

My Voyager worked fine.....

BB Pearl

My Pearl works fine.

No text displayed with Verizon

My Verizon V3m works well, but no text messaging is displayed on the Nuvi.

I really wanted the ability to see my text messages (work related, shows job location, etc), and have Jill be able to read them to me.

As it stands now, my company is switching to AT&T, hopefully I can get a phone that will also show text messages on my Nuvi.

GeoChapman, I have the

GeoChapman, I have the Verizon LG 9900, also and when I pair it with my 765 or 785, it often causes my gps to restart or turn off. (Most likely, because of the bluetoth software). Do you pair it with any of the 7xr series?

Only have 660

I haven't had the opportunity to work with any of the --5 units but as I said it has no problems with the 660. I don't use texting so I don't know how that works but I hope no one does that while driving. I see this morning that the Iowa state legislature is looking at banning hand held cell phones and texting in the current session.

My Voyager works great with all features but text messaging

My Voyager works great with all features but text messaging with my 760.

Compatibility

Many phones are partially compatible. What I mean by that is that many will receive calls on the GPS but won't have all functions available.

I had a Samsung SCH-A930 that worked fine except that the phone book didn't transfer to the GPS and the text messaging didn't work with the GPS.

I now have a Motorola Adventure V750. This phone works better than the Samsung in that the phone book automagically transfers to the GPS. However, the text messaging still doesn't work with the GPS.

MANY phones don't work with text messaging on the GPS but function properly for other uses.
