Ashtabula County in Ohio is home to 18 Covered Bridges. Some bridges are over 100 years old, while others are relatively new, such as the Smolen-Gulf Bridge which opened to traffic in 2008, and the West Liberty St bridge built in 2010.

Smolen-Gulf Bridge has the distinction of being the longest (and highest) covered bridge in the United States. Whereas, the West Liberty Street bridge is the shortest covered bridge in the U.S. at just 18 feet long.

The Ashtabula County Covered Bridge Festival is held the 2nd weekend in October featuring driving tours of the counties bridges.
