Ashtabula County in Ohio is home to 17 Covered Bridges, Some bridges are over 100 years old, while others are relatively new,such as the Smolen-Gulf Bridge which opened to traffic in 2008.
Smolen-Gulf Bridge has the distinction of being the longest (and highest) covered bridge in the United States.
The Ashtabula County Covered Bridge Festival is held each October featuring driving tours of the counties bridges.
