Garmin compatible with my phone

I have been a Garmin user since day one but I couldn't find one compatible with my phone, a Samsung SGH a437. Does anyone know if I can pair my phone with any particular garmin? I switched to a Sony for the Bluetooth but I am not satisfied with the performance of the Sony (it can't compare to the Garmin.) Any help will be appreciated.

Motorola RAZR V3

Motorola RAZR V3 can pair nicely with Garmin 265WT. It can even do voice dialing thru Garmin. Just in case you want to know.

Didn't make the list

Jasebo,

Here's a link to Garmins list of compatible phones: http://www8.garmin.com/bluetooth/phones.jsp There appear to be a lot of Samsung phones on the list but at the moment yours isn't one of them.

Not being on the list doesn't necessarily mean your phone won't work (my Motorola isn't there and all functions work fine). An option to the list is to find a retailer that sells the line of Garmin units you're interested in. Frys Electronics, for example has an aisle full of them to play with. You could select one of the demo units and see if it'll pair with your Samsung. If one does, chances are they all (with Bluetooth capability) will. Another option, if you know someone with a Bluetooth enabled Garmin unit ask if you can experiment with their unit.

Cheers wink

bluetooth fabability

I have an motorola w385 and it works great with my streetpilot c580. It would be cheaper to replace your phone that purchase a new gps. I had the store set up my unit, they had a hard time, but finally got it to work. The unit will still work on the bluetooth when it is unpluged from the car.

texts from the phone

Do you get texts from the phone displayed on your Garmin?

SONY

I made a comment that I wasn't satisfied with my Sony. There are many features that I like, but I have been lead astray on several routes. Recently I was headed from point A to point B and I knew the roads I needed to take. A good highway from A to B and 32 miles. I had it set for standard, not shortest, and it gave me a route of about 35 miles which included about nine miles of dirt roads. This would have been all right if I were in my jeep, but, if I had been in my motor home, pulling my jeep, this could have presented problems. I have had several other route problems but I won't bore you with the details. I do think I will go back to Garmin when I can find what I need.

Thanks to everyone for your timely comments.

Try to set 'unpaved roads"(I think) as an avoidance.
