765T troubles

any advice from other 765T users, or any of the veterans here would be most appreciated.

I just returned from my Christmas holiday drive to South Carolina and back, and experienced some disturbing behavior from my 765T.

It rebooted itself 4 times during the 9-10 hour drive down, and twice on the way back.

Each time, it returns to the route, and if playing mp3's via a playlist, it will resume that as well, although I had to navigate to the mp3 player screen and touch the play button, but it did resume right where it was.

This would only be an annoyance, except that one time it rebooted just as I was approaching a turn, and of course it wasn't able to guide me.

Another time, it seemed to choke on an mp3 and stopped providing audio...since the vehicle was moving along the route on screen, I was unaware of this, and therefore, would have missed "Jill's" direction. I had to restart it to get the audio back.

I wonder if the mp3 player can handle VBR mp3's? I don't know if that was the problem, just trying to figure it out.

I have not yet updated the firmware to what someone reported in a post here, as the current one, 2.50...according to the About screen under System, I am still at nuvi 765 Software Version 2.30, just as it came out of the box.

That About screen under System also says it has Audio Version 1.90 and GPS SW Version 2.70

I also have not yet spoken with Garmin tech support...I decided to bounce it off the folks here at POI Factory first.
