space used to calculate route

I just installed Europe Maps on my 765T (SD Card). My question is if SD card is big enough would it use the space on SD to calculate the route or does it still just use internal memory of gps to calculate route.

Just for fun tried calcualting a route from US to Europe and it said not enough space to calculate.

.

It uses internal memory.

Typically, you will run into this type of error messages if you try to calculate routes that are extraordinarily long.

And you will definitely run into it if you try to calculate a route between two places that have no roads connecting them. wink

That takes all the fun out of it though smile

Out of curiosity what is recommend to keep in internal memory or have on external SD to keep things running smooth. Does it matter?

The unit has enough space typically to perform the calculations it needs to perform.

Typically, it is recommended that MP3s be placed on the SD simply because there's not much room on the unit for them.

Supplemental maps can be placed in either location if you have the space. Same with Custom POIs.

Vehicles, voice and text files must be on the unit itself.

Also, Favorites and Routes must be imported to the unit before they can be used, so unless you are needing to carry more than the unit will store, there's no advantage to placing routes on the SD card.

Otherwise, it really doesn't matter.

Thanks!

You answered every question I had much appreciated!!
