Getting served/ legal aspects of red light and speed camera tickets

Hi All: I was wondering about the topic of receiving a ticket in the mail and how legal that is? What if you claim you never received the ticket? Don't they have to serve you? If so, what if they can't? Does a mailed ticket get removed in a certain amount of time if they can not serve you? What if your friend is driving your car and the photo does not match your license? There are a lot of legal loop questions if anyone would care to comment. Thanks!

Camera tickets

In Ca, most of the cameras take pictures of the license plate and the driver, I suppose if you wear a Richard Nixon halloween mask while driving, you may have a possible dispute.

In Maryland (speaking from

In Maryland (speaking from experience) the owner of the vehicle is responsible for the ticket, regardless of whether or not you are driving the car. I think Red Light and Speed Camera's are a joke; especially speed camera's. They only really penalize out of town drivers who don't know where to be careful. Furthermore, the camera company (at least in the D.C. area) gets $25 for every $60 ticket! B.S.

Automated enforcement laws

Welcome jkd4,I found this web site as to each State. Statewide or only specified locations? Violations Citation issued to whom? Who is liable? What image is taken? Traditional enforcement penalties Auto enforcement penalties/record. As for the legal part I think someone else may be able to answer this for you.

The answers kind of depend on the juridiction... best to check with a Expert Traffic Attorney for the area of the violation.

If you Google "ticket cameras" you will get a lot of different info in regards to legality surrounding the different types of ticket cameras (red light and speed). Different jurisdictions handle the questions you pose in totally different manners.

Az

What I have found here in Az is if they can't serve you which they will try then it goes on your vehicle registration and the will get you when you renew plus all the fees.
