Just got the 750 and have been doing a lot of reading on this site. Found the thread about using google earth and mapquest to create routes. So create a route in mapquest from point A to point B. Let's say it takes a route that I want to modify. So I drag the route on mapquest to take a couple different roads. I click on update route. I look at the map and the turn by turn section and see both are doing the route I created by dragging and changing a few roads. When I load it to my Garmin, it has the original route that mapquest created, not the changed roads. What am I doing wrong.
The GPS unit will recalculate the route in accordance with its settings. In order to make it go where you want, you will have to insert a sufficient number of actual waypoints (not just move the route) in order to "force" it to go where you want.
After you drag and drop the roads on the route, you need to right click on the red waypoints where you changed the route and save them.
Once I clicked on the red wayoints and saved them it loaded correctly to the new route. Thank you. Have a file management question but will start a new post for that. Documentation sure is weak.
I've used Mapsource to create routes, but have not used Mapquest. When you created your Mapquest route and transfer it to the 750 were the waypoints saved as Favorites locations as well?
I think so but need to verify. I remember when loading to the gps the popup screen from Mapquest listed all the waypoints I had created in a list to be sent to gps so assume they made there way to favorites.
I created two routes to work, I’m at work now, one with mapquest and one with mapsource. I will probably just stay with the mapsource but wanted to play with the other. If I get out to my car today I’ll let you know, otherwise I’ll update tonight.
I was wrong, the points I saved in mapquest were not in favorites. They points showed on the route but weren't in favorites.
